#### A. Location accuracy

* Use `/tpll` The command checks whether the pre-generated building outline is accurate.
* Pre-generated road widths are also usually not accurate and can be corrected using `/tpll` to make adjustments.

<figure><img src="https://2481641337-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FiCsqZvQt6N8bYG3CEYIb%2Fuploads%2FHmwWknwG9GUR1qGbz36b%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=35dddacf-472b-49f1-bfc2-025887a03b07" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### B. Building interiors

* Do not build the interiors of any private buildings.\
  This is for privacy and safety reasons.
* Public and representative landmark buildings should have interior structures built.
* For other places open to the general public, you may (but are not required to) build interiors, provided you have sufficient and reliable photographic references to ensure accuracy.
* If interiors or floors have not yet been built, windows must be sealed.

  * You can use discreet blocks (see the building guide for details)
  * or use sea lanterns for a cool effect at night
  * Blocks should be placed behind glass.

  <div align="left"><figure><img src="https://2481641337-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FiCsqZvQt6N8bYG3CEYIb%2Fuploads%2Fy28vg4VZ2XTkF6iKJIsf%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=1875a5ab-9c50-49a8-a007-c93e7c71b60e" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

{% hint style="info" %}
If a building's interior is unclear, you can ask on Discord.
{% endhint %}

#### C. Vehicles and other transport

* We do not build cars or motor vehicles. (HKMU: a few are okay)

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://2481641337-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FiCsqZvQt6N8bYG3CEYIb%2Fuploads%2FDShn4DTfoa1DFF9B0JGv%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=f374700f-8013-4ba0-b197-cebbfb2b8b94" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

* Exceptions can be made in special cases, for example:
  * cars in showrooms
  * vans (HGVs) in warehouses or logistics centres
* You can build large vehicles, for example:
  * docked ships
  * trains
  * airplanes

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://2481641337-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FiCsqZvQt6N8bYG3CEYIb%2Fuploads%2FYRCzX6MpyXmgvCJZ04Tc%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=96e677d1-40c4-4d7d-92d0-163465586222" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

If unsure, ask on the Discord channel.

#### D. Disabled/forbidden blocks

The following items or blocks are prohibited:

* Custom maps
* Paintings
* Armour stands
* Item frames
* All kinds of mobs

Reason: these are "entities" and may be destroyed or altered during world conversion.\
Aside from the items listed above, all other blocks may be used. (HKMU: small usage is okay but must be reported)

***

#### E. Building rotation

* We will not rotate buildings or entire sites merely to match block alignment.
* Some buildings may appear to be "sideways", but this is necessary; otherwise it would break the overall accuracy of the surrounding area.
* Remember: everything must remain **1:1 scale**.

<figure><img src="https://2481641337-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FiCsqZvQt6N8bYG3CEYIb%2Fuploads%2F2ljfvG0AAmWXWX7VjkVJ%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=bbc605e7-b6e8-44c6-8d86-5de17b1623a6" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### F. Personal information

* Be cautious about revealing coordinates or in-game locations.
* It is recommended to hide coordinates in every screenshot to protect personal privacy. (Nobody wants others to know where you live!)

***

#### G. Terrain elevation

* In highly hilly or steep areas, the generated terrain elevation data may be inaccurate.\
  This is because the data resolution used is low.
* If you encounter this, it is recommended to:
  * look for higher-resolution terrain data and manually correct the terrain.
  * Check whether the area has **LiDAR data**, which the mod can use to generate more accurate terrain.
* For how to use LiDAR, consult your team's administrators or ask for advice on Discord.

(Hong Kong has**LiDAR**accurate terrain; Macau does not and requires manual terrain correction.

***

#### H. Positive atmosphere

* Whether on Discord or the server, please try to maintain a positive and proactive attitude.
* Ensure the BTE community continues to maintain a **friendly, helpful and pleasant** atmosphere.
* When commenting on others' work, avoid negative remarks and focus on constructive criticism.
* Avoid "inside jokes" that could be misunderstood as rule-breaking, so new players don't feel unwelcome.
* Do not troll maliciously, especially in the **#building-help** channel, or you will be subject to moderation.

{% tab title="FAQ Frequently Asked Questions" %}

### Frequently asked questions (related to Build The Earth and building)

#### 1. I'm not good at building — is that a problem?

No, that's not a problem. You will improve over time. Don't be afraid to make mistakes — we all do. You can always seek feedback in **the #building-help channel** or your regional building Discord.

***

#### 2. How do I join a building region?

You can find the building region for the country you want to build in at <https://buildtheearth.net/join/visit#more> which also provides links to their Discord. The process for starting to build varies by region, so it's recommended to ask directly in the local region's Discord.

***

#### 3. Can I build anywhere I want?

It depends on the region. Some building regions allow you to build anywhere, while others have a "tier system" where you can take on more complex builds as your quantity and quality of builds increase.

***

#### 4. What is the server IP?

We have a **Build The Earth network (buildtheearth.net)**&#x77;hich is a hub server that can connect to many building servers.\
However, not all building regions are connected to this hub; some regions require additional IPs to connect.

***

#### 5. Where can I download the Master World?

You must be a **BTE Patreon supporter** to obtain it; please refer to:<https://www.patreon.com/BuildTheEarth>

***

#### 6. Is Bedrock supported?

Not supported. Bedrock requires frequent updates and often has bugs. Please use the **Java edition** Minecraft connection server.

***

#### 7. Can cracked versions of Minecraft participate?

No. You must have a **legitimate Minecraft account** to participate in Build The Earth.

***

#### 8. Why do I need to use `/tpll`?

`/tpll <longitude> <latitude>` is key to ensuring a building is in the correct location.\
OSM may load building outlines but is often significantly offset.

* In Google Maps satellite view, right-click a point to copy coordinates (do not use the regular map view as it may have larger errors).
* In Google Earth, hover over a point and press **Ctrl + Shift + C** to copy coordinates.\
  We recommend first referring to [the bteuk.net beginner guide](https://bteuk.net)to help you understand basic operations for building outlines.

***

#### 9. When will this project be finished?

This project will very likely never be completely finished because the world is so large. Our goal is to complete as many places as possible, but ultimately we prioritise the joy of building.

***

#### 10. How do I determine a building's height?

Many world-famous sites have 3D data in **Google Earth** .\
Move the mouse to the highest and lowest points, read the values and subtract to get the height.\
If there is no 3D data, you can estimate using references:

* A single floor is usually about 3 metres high
* A door is about 2 metres high\
  If there is no Street View either, you'll need to search online for other reference materials.

***

#### 11. Is ground elevation correct everywhere?

No, not everywhere is correct.\
However, some building regions use **LiDAR data** which can make the loaded terrain more accurate.\
Ask your local building region's Discord to confirm whether they use LiDAR.

***

#### 12. How do I learn the basics of terraforming and WorldEdit?

We have written a terraforming tutorial that is recommended for detailed reading.\
For WorldEdit, it's recommended to watch YouTube tutorials to quickly learn how to use the basic commands.
