# Understand Details

Before starting construction, we first need to clarify the type and use of the target building, such as village houses or skyscraper offices. Then carefully observe and understand the building's overall structural features, such as location, outline, and height. Using street view tools like Google Maps, we can further study the building's exterior details, including color, materials, and window distribution. After completing the above steps, I will guide everyone step by step through the construction process.

The following tools can help you:

<table><thead><tr><th width="195">Tools</th><th width="175">Street View</th><th>2D Map</th><th>3D Map</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Google Maps</td><td><span data-gb-custom-inline data-tag="emoji" data-code="2705">✅</span> (updated annually)</td><td><span data-gb-custom-inline data-tag="emoji" data-code="2705">✅</span>(inaccurate)</td><td><span data-gb-custom-inline data-tag="emoji" data-code="2705">✅</span>(not updated frequently)</td></tr><tr><td>Google Earth Pro</td><td><span data-gb-custom-inline data-tag="emoji" data-code="2705">✅</span> (updated annually)</td><td><span data-gb-custom-inline data-tag="emoji" data-code="274c">❌</span></td><td><span data-gb-custom-inline data-tag="emoji" data-code="2705">✅</span>(not updated frequently)</td></tr><tr><td>GeoInfo Map</td><td><span data-gb-custom-inline data-tag="emoji" data-code="274c">❌</span></td><td><span data-gb-custom-inline data-tag="emoji" data-code="2705">✅</span></td><td><span data-gb-custom-inline data-tag="emoji" data-code="274c">❌</span></td></tr><tr><td>Open3Dhk</td><td><span data-gb-custom-inline data-tag="emoji" data-code="2705">✅</span>(only photographed in 2023)</td><td><span data-gb-custom-inline data-tag="emoji" data-code="274c">❌</span></td><td><span data-gb-custom-inline data-tag="emoji" data-code="2705">✅</span>(more detailed models)</td></tr><tr><td>BTEHKMU 3D Explorer</td><td><span data-gb-custom-inline data-tag="emoji" data-code="274c">❌</span></td><td><span data-gb-custom-inline data-tag="emoji" data-code="2705">✅</span>(GeoInfo map)</td><td><span data-gb-custom-inline data-tag="emoji" data-code="2705">✅</span>(texture-less models)</td></tr></tbody></table>

I recommend using Google Earth Pro to observe the overall appearance of buildings (if the 3D models in Google Earth Pro are too blurry, you can compare with Open3Dhk). Then use Google Maps Street View to observe building features (some housing estates are private areas, which Open3Dhk may contain).
