# Drawing

In the Build The Earth (BTE) project, accurate coordinates are key to determining building position and scale. Currently there are two commonly used map tools: Google Maps and the Hong Kong GeoInfo Map. These map platforms provide longitude & latitude information, and players can directly copy specific coordinates.

{% hint style="info" %} **The Hong Kong GeoInfo Map is only applicable to the Hong Kong area** | **Google Maps applies to**most of the world**regions**

1. First, find your building on Google Maps.(Demonstrated below)
2. From the bird's-eye view on Google Maps, we can see its shape; the yellow dots are the building's vertices.

   <figure><img src="https://2481641337-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FiCsqZvQt6N8bYG3CEYIb%2Fuploads%2FqVQJHkyODHOvzoZS2ewl%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=da5e0803-070a-4cd2-813e-3f115513e79c" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
3. Place your mouse over a corner of the building, right-click there, then click to copy the first line of numbers — that number is the coordinates of the spot you clicked.

{% hint style="info" %}
Tip: To move the view angle, hold ctrl (Windows) or command (Mac) and left-click and drag with the mouse.&#x20;

The building in the video differs somewhat, but the principle is the same (will be re-recorded)
{% endhint %}

4. After copying the coordinates, return to the game and enter the command; teleport to the corresponding location, then place a recognizable block as a marker.
5. Then repeat the actions from steps 3–4 on all the remaining corners.

6\. Now to connect these markers, hold your wooden axe, left-click one corner, then right-click the next. A red box should appear (even if not, the steps are the same):

Hold your wooden axe and type `//line [block ID]`, the block ID can use wool blocks (for example yellow\_wool or 35:4)

English or numeric block IDs also work; you can check them yourself [Minecraft Item IDs](https://minecraftitemids.com/)
{% endhint %}

Repeat this until you have connected all the building corners.

Next, we can start measuring heights and then model it.

## Hong Kong GeoInfo Map

The "GeoInfo Map" is a geospatial information service provided by the Hong Kong SAR government for the public, intended to help citizens search for and understand Hong Kong's geographic locations, buildings and natural environment, as well as public facilities and other information.

{% embed url="<https://www.map.gov.hk/gm>" %}

The building outlines of GeoInfo Map and Google Map are not very different, making them suitable for the Build The Earth (BTE) project.

{% embed url="<https://www.btehkmu.com/intranet/3dmap/>" %}

Because HK GeoInfo Map itself does not allow direct copying of latitude and longitude, to more conveniently obtain building location information, we developed a 3D exploration map website that combines **Hong Kong GeoInfo Map** with satellite layers. Users can view GeoInfo's detailed building outlines and satellite imagery in the same interface and accurately copy location coordinates.

### Minecraft map projection mod

A holographic map rendering tool designed for BuildTheEarth; the mod includes**including the Hong Kong GeoInfo Map, players**can easily use it as a reference to draw accurate road details and building outlines.

Repeat the same actions as before to mark all the remaining corners.
