# Building Measurement

Since it's not possible to carry a tape measure to the site for measurement, especially in a place like Hong Kong with many tall buildings, a few tape measures are insufficient.

***

From my BTE experience, I usually measure \[ground elevation], \[parapet elevation on the rooftop], \[rooftop floor elevation], \[elevations of various objects on the rooftop], and when needed I also use Google Earth Pro's ruler to measure the height of one floor or specific detail heights.

Continuing with Hin Shek Yuen as an example:

#### Quick summary:

* Ground elevation = 18 m
* Parapet elevation on the rooftop = 29 m
* Rooftop floor elevation = 28 m
* Total height from ground to rooftop parapet = 11 m
* Elevations of various rooftop objects: stair house = 2 m high, rooftop canopy/tent = 2 m high
* Wall: 1.86 m ≈ 2 m

{% hint style="info" %}
Building parapets are usually 0.5 to 0.8 m, can be treated as 1 m
{% endhint %}

Although the measured result is 11 m, players can actually be a few meters higher (roughly less than a 2 m difference) as long as it's not too extreme.
